RE: Mormon Tea

I was told, by someone whose knowledge I trust, that "Mormon Tea"
is also known as "American Desert Herb", which my own research has
(with much effort) identified as part of the Ephedra family. The
oriental variety of the Ephedra family is also known as "Ma-Huang".
The active ingredient in both "Mormon Tea / American Desert Herb"
and "Ma-Huang" is ephedrine, which is a potent sympathomimetics.

This means it excites the vaso-constriction of the nasal mucosa,
is a bronchodialator and cardiac stimulant. Its effects are
enhanced when taken in combination with caffine, or caffine
containing herbs like guarana.

Ephedrine and caffine also seem to be appetite supressants. Anyway
I have seen this combination in several weight-loss products.

In me it produces a somewhat unpleasant and tedious buzz.
