The rationale for this work was described eloquently in a quote from Ancient Futures and in another from Invisible Cities.
"The Future is Abundant is a sourcebook for survival. It reports on a new agriculture which unites plants, animals and human communities in a productive, integrated whole. It is also an invitation to join us in creating a sustainable society based on environmentally sound approaches to the production of food, fuel, clothing, and shelter.
"Set in the Pacific Northwest, The Future is Abundant is a resource and a model for everyone seeking regional self-reliance. It is a unique blend of articles, ideas and access information, with references to hundreds of books, periodicals, tool sources, organizations, and seed and nursery companies. Included are dozens of new crops, new techniques, and new ideas that are part of the current explosion of innovation in agriculture, aquaculture and forestry."
The Future is Abundant was published by Tilth in 1982.
