P.S. I'd also like to note that a few corporations controlling the
distribution, including through vertical integration (farm to store),
allows them great power re: the type of product produced (ex.
organic/healthy vs. packaged/glossy), how it's presented, etc. - by the
market they provide and encourage, by their oligopoly power which
discourages competition. If the same companies also have a stake in
pesticides, they may make choices based on that and their total projected
income rather than on the well-being of their consumers or the community
(or even the farmers...) ....
