Int'l farmers seek U.S. organic or sust. hosts

BRING THE WORLD TO YOUR DOOR!
MESA, a non-profit, federally authorized organization that offers U.S.
organic on-the-farm training programs for young international farmers,
needs your help! An upstart organization now entering our second year of
U.S. on-the-farm training programs for international farmer interns, MESA
must recruit more sustainable/organic farms, CSAs and ag. extension
agents to participate as hosts to meet the needs of our many qualified
exchange farmers from Guatemala, Lithuania, Russia and Kenya. Most
programs begin this April. Exchange farmer interests and experience range
from organic marketing and dairy production to vegetables, tree fruits,
grapes, rice, citrus and cattle ranching.
Each exchange farmer has been competetively screened by MESA's int'l
co-sponsor affiliates. Each seeks full-time on-the-farm 6-12 month
live/work positions to increase his/her skills in sustainable
agriculture. Participating U.S. hosts provide room, board and training
supervision for their exchange farmers, who are matched according to like
agricultural interests. Hosts also send $725 monthly program fees to MESA
for our six month programs (or only $675/mo. for our 12 month programs),
which enable MESA to provide all exchange farmers with exceptional
program benefits, including: full medical coverage, legal J-1 visa
documentation, $300 monthly stipends, educational seminars, domestic
transportation and administrative support. Hosts incur no payroll taxes.
MESA's innovative programs present a great opportunity for farmers to
have affordable, reliable help and reap the rewards of cross-cultural
exchange!
