The comments thus far are much appreciated. 

I would like to check an assumption I made when reading recent posts in this
thread- that references to *buying local* did not mean *exclusively local*,
but refered to a *regionally-balanced* ag and food system that considers
issues such as externalities/off-farm/community effects in weighing the
pros/cons of imported vs local products. True?
