Farm Mgmt Position
The Department of Agriculture at Berea College is currently advertising for an

BEREA COLLEGE
DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE AND NATURAL RESOURCES
POSITION: EDUCATIONAL FARM MANAGER
DATE AVAILABLE: JULY 1, 1997 or until filled
DUTIES: Berea College seeks an educational farm manager. Bachelors with
experience or M.S. in agriculture, agronomy, animal science or related field.
Primary responsibility involves education and supervision of student labor in
the daily management of a college farm. Farm serves as laboratory for
Agriculture and Natural Resources Department as well as employment and practical
experience opportunity for students. Practical experience with beef, sheep,
swine, row and forage crops as well as equipment maintenance required.
Experience and strong desire to work with students expected. Interest in
sustainable agriculture a plus.
LOCATION: Berea College, Berea, KY 40404. The town of Berea, forty miles south
of Lexington, Ky. and two hours from both Cincinnati and Knoxville, is located
on the edge of rolling bluegrass country and the western foothills of the
Appalachian Mountains. About 1,500 college students, almost all residential and
full time are enrolled in B.S. and B.A. programs in 22 academic departments.
Berea College is a four-year institution devoted to undergraduate education
rooted in the liberal arts. The College's mission includes special commitments
to economically disadvantaged students of high ability, the Appalachian region,
interracial and intercultural education and the development of perspectives and
values deeply informed by the Christian faith. Admitting students of limited
financial resources the College charges no tuition. The labor program, in
