there are some excellent plant lists around (as far as i know only in print,
but this might be outdated information), compiled my a guy in GB, his
organisation has "agroforestry" in its name (agroforestry research center or
sum such), and his name is ... uhm... something like "hawthorn"?? [graham,
help me!!, my memory leaves me] - he gives the "10year height" for woody
plants as well as the mature height - so you can see the speed of growth in
these figures. we have the lists in the austrian pc library, i could have it
sent to me (it is a mailorder library) to see its categories, unless some
one else here on the list knows what i am talking about and happens to have
them handy.
