Last I heard Santa Cruz is still gentrifying rapidly, with concommitant
increases in land prices, speculation and "development;" even when I
lived there for a while back in '91, sharing a broken-down old bungalow
a few blocks from the harbor, half the houses nearby had been bought up
and redone to suit the high end of the market.
