Aloha,
This was in the Seattle Times today - some cultural insights from a
journalist who spent time under fire during the Soviet invasion and
then was the NY Times correspondent for that war. Lots of brief but
telling bits of info here. Especially telling is his assessment of who
the Taliban men "are" in terms of both nature and nurture. Seems to me
to shed a lot of light on why women's rights & freedoms were so quickly
and completely cut off as these men came to power.
