Earthworkshop and Celebration March 31-April 2
(Ojai, CA) -- "Earth, Stone, and Water" a unique weekend earthwork
celebration happens March 31-April 2 at a permaculture home and garden
near Ojai. Sponsored by Ecospirit, an educational non-profit community
organization, this participatory "earthworkshop" features legendary
environmental artist and kiva builder Skip Schuckmann with a
consortium of progressive designers using abundant local resources.
Join us by going "down and in" to uncover the earth's beauty for solar,
thermal, and interpersonal benefits. Special guest instructors
covering a diversity of earthwork techniques include Gerhard Steineger,
Stephen Gates, Martin Hoffman, and Jason Stahlheber.
Special event highlights are organic meals prepared by Andrea Rolston's
"Temple Cuisine" featuring homegrown heirloom foods. Comfortable
overnight guest accommodations Saturday and Sunday nights are available
for the first 12 people to register, with creek access, yoga space, and
hot tubbing freely available. Bring good footware and gloves as we
collaborate hands-on with sand, soil, stone, plants, and water.
Event begins with special EcoVariety Night entertainment which is open
to the public, Saturday March 31 at 7pm, at the new organic cafe:
Farmer and Cook, 339 W. El Roblar, Meiners Oaks. Suggested donation $3
Workshop beakfast is 8:30am Sunday, and activities begin 9:15am with
guided design demonstrations, collaboration, and implementation of
earthwork practices and materials.
Lunch is noon-1pm followed by a variety of experiential activities
creating a magical subterranean space for residential comforts and
delight.
Celebration dinner and social firecircle with music is at 6pm.
Overnight guests enjoy an informal breakfast Monday 8am, and guests are
welcome to continue collaborating on the project Monday and through the
Spring.
This will be fun!
Event Fees are sliding scale, suggested $49 per day for full
accomodations and meals. Barter-exchange is possible if completed prior
