Big City Councillors - What could I say to one of them Fri pm.

Any ideas from those that have done this kind of thing?
Are there any old grey-hairs that have a storey for us?

I have been asked by a friend of mine to present permaculture to a
Vancouver, BC Canada, city councillor. It will be at his home (oh good
dinner too!), and to a very select crowd (8 eco types) this Friday.
    - He is a minority on his council: all the others are mostly strongly
right leaning and/or developers.
    - This city has a long way to go before it gets the really great
European codes/by-laws/urban planning that enable sensible environmental
development and people orientated places.
    - The permaculture movement here is not ready for mainstream - we do
better in the "eco-community" until we are well known there.
    - I'm tight on time and money - there will be little follow up.

Our ideas so far:
  - show a couple of sections of Global Gardener video with questions in
between.
  - Ask for permaculture zoning by-law: live work garden party zoning. ie
Ecovillage type zoning.
  - More community garden land esp in Downtown East Side: else the guerilla
gardeners are likely to cause problems
  - Farmer's Market
  - Reduced taxes for Environmental features: ie composting toilets etc,
reduced utility costs for low usage, etc.
  - Buy that Permaculture Book called Urban Permaculture by Dave Watkins
(I've never seen it) read it and send a copy to him as a thank - you.

So, please comment!
