Re: Deer

There are a number of cactus species, particularly amongst the genus
Opuntia and Cerus that could make living and productive fences that should
keep deer out. There are species that produce edible (varying from
ordinary to delicious) fruit, edible juvinile pads, cooked or raw and stock
feed. Here in Australia some of the cactus (and other prickly plants as
well) could be worth trying against wallabies and perhaps even foxes.
Anyone interested in swapping notes is welcome to email me at

weed invasion before you leap.
