I use cellulose insulation a lot, but this statement is a gift from the Greek
god Hyperbole!

I have designed houses which use very small quantities of thermal energy which
are insulated with fiberglass batts (believe it or not!), fg batts with foam
board stock, cellulose, foamed-in-place polyisocyanurate, and foam-filled
stress-skin panels. All work with proper detailing, and we can debate their
"green-ness" ad nauseum. I choose cellulose for most applications, based on my
own intuitive sense of the environmental and performance concerns, but, as Hal
Levin is often reminding us, I have no REAL tools to quantitatively make these
types of assessments.
