Eco-Building Schools explores the state of alternative architecture schools
in an unbiased way and provides a wealth of information in an easily
understood and concise manner. This work is of genuine value to anyone who
desires to build a home that is easy to construct, cost effective, and
environmentally sustainable.

Schools can range in type from architectural research centers to those
focused on the inexperienced builder. The book compares and contrasts the
major categories of architectural schools by discussing the extent of
community involvement, relationship to other training centers, educational
format, number and type of demonstration projects, emphasis on research, and
available publications.

The author provides a description of over 35 schools around the U. S
interested in promoting structures built of cordwood masonry, strawbale, cob,
rammed earth, timber frame, or adobe. Each school description provides a
brief mission statement and specific contact information. A detailed
comparison chart examines each organization in a range of 52 areas
including-focus of instruction, length and types of courses, funding status,
and school setting.

An appendix lists over 25 additional sources of information, related
architectural organizations, and internet websites.
