Two consecutive studies were conducted to identify and test the variables that contribute to ICC. Data for the first study were collected through face-to-face interviews, and for the second study using a survey instrument. The results from the first study identified the variables empathy, intercultural experience, global attitude, interaction involvement, and motivation as key variables in ICC. A model of ICC was constructed and a second study was designed to test the model. The results validated the proposed model and revealed that the model varies for people with high, medium, and low experience. The implications of the results and directions for future research are discussed. |
