The urgency and amount of etiologic information was varied in a factorial, repeated measures design using four clinical vignettes. Fifty residents from the Internal Medicine and Family Practice residency programs at the University of Wisconsin-Madison participated in this study. Information seeking questions--in the form of the Most Important Thing a resident might need to know--were categorized by semantic function, and analyzed using non-parametric statistical methods. Canonical correlations were used to investigate relationships between demographic variables and information seeking questions. |
