Title: Flowers without rain: International diplomacy and equality for women in the Americas at the Sixth Inter-American Conference (January 16-February 20, 1928)

Abstract: The subject of this thesis is the involvement of women from Latin American and United States at the Inter-American Conference in 1928 in Havana, Cuba and the opportunity it afforded them to present women's demands for equality on an international level. It presents the feminist backgrounds of the women from the United States as well as those from Latin America. It explores the personal women's first coalition for women's equality in the Western Hemisphere, its challenge to the exclusive male world of diplomacy, and its attempts to bargain for the civil rights of women at the international level at the Sixth Inter-American Conference.
