Abstract: "Stakeholder analysis has gained currency as an important approach to strategic planning in organizations. Performed as a group activity, it is useful in identifying the key stakeholders of an organization, their expectations with respect to the organization, and appropriate strategies for successfully managing the expectations of key stakeholders. Few theoretical models have been developed to understand, explain, and predict the effects of intervention technologies on group interaction and performance during stakeholder analysis. This dissertation utilized two complementary theoretical approaches and developed a basis for comparing the effects of alternative intervention technologies: (a) a task-technology fit model, which postulates that effective group performance is predicted upon a fit between task requirements and technology capabilities, and (b) an emergent perspective model, which utilizes the theory of adaptive structuration to argue that the effects of any technology are also a result of the manner in which the groups appropriate the technology during their task performance. |
