By extending BCS vacuum pairing to include three body, quark-antiquark-gluon correlations, within the framework of a linked cluster expansion we investigate dynamical chiral symmetry breaking. Inclusion of soft gluon interactions is shown to increase the quark mass gap and the vacuum expectation value of the scalar quark density in agreement with phenomenological expectations. We examine also the influence of three body interactions, arising from expansion of the Coulomb kernel, on adiabatic potential levels between static quark-antiquark pairs. These interactions play an essential role in the ordering of static potential surfaces leading to reversing some of the levels in agreement with lattice results. |
