Thomas Bartscherer
has just completed two years as a visiting scholar at the École Normale Supérieure in Paris. During this time, he was also a guest researcher with the Institut des Textes et Manuscrits Modernes of the Centre National de Recherche Scientifique. Before that, he held a two year research fellowship at Heidelberg University and in 2001 he was awarded a Woodrow Wilson Foundation Newcombe Dissertation Fellowship.

Bartscherer works on both the intersection of philosophy and literature, with a particular focus on drama (including contemporary performance), as well as on new media theory.

His publications include an article on hypertext and text-genetic theory in Genèse, (Inter)Texte, Création (forthcoming, Rodopi: Amsterdam, 2004). He is also the editor, with Shadi Bartsch, of Erotikon: Essays on Eros Ancient and Modern (forthcoming, University of Chicago Press, 2004). He is presently completing a dissertation at the University of Chicago.
