PHP is an HTML-embedded scripting language. Much of its syntax is borrowed from C, Java, and Perl with a couple of unique PHP-specific features thrown in. The goal of the language is to allow web developers to write dynamically-generated pages quickly.
The PHP manual is written in SGML using the DocBook DTD, and can be viewed at http://www.php.net/manual/ or downloaded in various formats from http://www.php.net/docs.php3.
Since Midgard uses PHP under the hood, there could very likely be a great deal of overlap between some of the documentation between the two. (Note to Midgard & PHP documentation volunteers: you might want to contact one another about this stuff...no sense in reinventing the wheel - deb).
We've also received interest from a publisher about publishing the manual on dead trees, so I suspect this may happen in the not-too-distant future.
