Feeding and breeding

I am surprised by the number and variety of juvenile birds in my Raleigh
backyard these hot summer days. I thought the resident birds would be
through breeding by now. Does it have anything to do with a generous
supply of black oil seeds and suet?

In the past two weeks, there have been Red bellied woodpeckers,
catbirds, titmice and starlings (of course) feeding young ones. I've
kept the suet feeder filled with a mixture of fat, pnut butter and
cornmeal. I'm just barely keeping up with their voracious appetites.
