Birds without head feathers

Birds have lice that feed on feathers. They seem to have more in the summer
than any other time. If you would like to know more , you can read about it
in THE AUDUBON SOCIETY ENCYCLOPEDIA OF NORTH AMERICAN BIRDS, by John K.
Terres, page 589
Most of these lice stay with their host bird until the bird dies. When
birds preen, they seem to have a little trouble with their head feathers.
Bathing helps and "anting" may also help.
