March 16
A pair (male and female) of BOAT-TAILED GRACKLES at Potato Creek Landing in
Clarendon County. Female holding apparent nesting material.

Two COMMON GROUND-DOVES beside Hwy. 267 south of Lone Star, Calhoun County.
At two separate location in Calhoun County, White-eyed Vireos sounded
amazingly like flycatchers. The second one had me thinking it was a
Great-crested Flycatcher until I saw it. The first one gave a clear and
consistent "whip three bears" call like an Olive-sided Flycatcher. To be
honest, I never saw this bird and am not positive it was a White-eyed Vireo,
but I never found a bird sitting up on an exposed perch; it seemed to be
hidden down in the undergrowth, and the vireo was the closest cadence I could
match to the call I was hearing. I am open to other considerations.
