Re:Waxwings galore

An American Holly tree, about 35' tall in our front yard, has been
laden with berries since late last fall. The tree with its berries has been
the exclusive domain of a Mockingbird who drove off all threats to the food
supply, real or imagined; robins, waxwings, even yellow-rumps were chased
not only from the tree but from the yard.
With the arrival of spring, the attention of the mocker has been
distracted to other matters, and for the past four days a flock of easily 50
Cedar Wawings has moved in and the berries are being methodically consumed
from the top of the holly to its bottom branches.
What a sight to watch so many of these beautiful birds so close at
hand.
