Though rainy today, the waterfowl had no qualms.
Price Lake:
6 pied-billed grebes
5 common loons (good, close look)
5 bufflehead (3hens, 2 drakes)
one pair canada geese
one pair hooded merganser (unusually close look at these beauties)
one swamp sparrow
lotsa wood duck
one great blue heron
AMROs, NOCAs, SCJUs and BEKIs as usual
Bass Lake:
5 red-breasted mergansers
11 lesser scaup
6 ring-necked ducks
one pied-billed grebe
4 blue-winged teal
one pair canada geese
brown creepers singing
SOSP, AMRO, BEKI, and some warbler sounding shy in the rain. Sounded like a
hooded on downers. But it could have just as well been a migrating
magnolia. But we arent calling the first warbler for the high elevation
until its a sure thing. If anyone would like to go and check it out now
that the rain has ceased, it was singing from behind the blue
porta-rest-station.
Happy birding.
YAY!
