HI . . .
Yesterday at 11 a.m., I spotted a male Ruby-throated Hummingbird at
a feeder--my first hummer of the year at Hilton Pond Center for
Piedmont Natural History near York SC. The feeder, of course, was NOT
inside a trap, so I didn't capture the bird.
Nonetheless, at 7 p.m., a male RTHU--likely the same bird--did hit
one of my mist nets, so he became the first banded hummer of the 2001
research season.
One down, perhaps 199 to go if it's a good year. :-)
