Conservation



Dr. John Terborgh, Professor of Biology and co-director of the Center for 
Tropical Conservation, will speak about scientific aspects of tropical 
forest conservation.  This will take place at the Church of Reconciliation, 
110 N. Elliot Rd., Chapel Hill, NC at 8:30 pm.

One of the world's foremost experts in the field of conservation biology, 
Dr. Terborgh is also James B. Duke Professor of Environmental Science and 
Botany and co-director of the Center for Tropical Conservation at Duke 
University.  Among his books are Where Have All the Birds Gone (1990), 
Diversity and the Tropical Rain Forest (1992), and Requiem for Nature 
(1999).  He has spent half of each of the past twenty-five years conducting 
research in the Amazonian rain forests of Peru.  Professor Terborgh is also 
a well-regarded public speaker.
