Wake Audubon Activities



Carolina Birders,

Wake Audubon Society events that may be of interest for those in the Triangle
area are as follows:

Field Trip:
April 21, 8:30 AM - Visit selected Wake County sites described in "The
Birdwatcher's Guide to the Triangle".  Meet at Anderson Point Park, located on
Rodgers Lane off of Hwy. 64 East just before the Neuse River. Contact John

Songbird Celebration:
April 28, 9:00 AM - Wake Audubon will participate with Blue Jay Point Park staff
to celebrate spring migration and teach about the migratory connections our
birds have with Central and South America.  This event will feature displays,
lectures, music, food and bird walks. Contact Blue Jay Point Park, 870-4334.

May Monthly Meeting:
May 8, 7:30 PM - "Atlantic Migration" - Dr. Jaime Collazo, NCSU Wildlife, will
provide insight into the complex migration patterns of shorebirds along the
Atlantic coast. The meeting is held in the NC Museum of Natural Science, 11 W.
Jones Street.  Contact Lena Gallitano, 571-0388.

Spring Bird Count:
May 12 - Join Wake Audubon in conducting a census of spring migrants and
resident birds.  Inexperienced birders will be teamed with others so all are
welcome to participate.  Plan to celebrate the count with a pot luck dinner at
6:00 PM. Contact John Connors, 755-0253.

Bagels & Birding:
May 5, 8:30 AM and the first Saturday of every month - Informal birding on the
Buckeye Greenway Trail. Meet at the parking lot on Crabtree Boulevard at Raleigh
Boulevard.  Contact Lena Gallitano, 571-0388.

Anderson Point Avian Adventures:
May 19, 8:30 AM and the third Saturday of every month - Informal birding at
Anderson Point Park.  Meet at Anderson Point Park, located on Rogers Lane off of
Hwy. 64 East just before the Neuse River. Contact Lena Gallitano, 571-0388.

Birdathon/Wildathon:
May 19 - Form or join a team for this Wake Audubon fundraiser to support local
environmental projects.  Call Karen Bearden, 844-9050.
