Red-breasted nuthatch

Early this morning I birded McClosky Road, Fayetteville, all the
way to the concrete barrier which, I assume, marks the edge of Fort
Bragg. Birds continue to be few in number, but I did turn up a
red-breasted nuthatch today. Unfortunately, I also saw a pair of
brown-headed cowbirds working the area.
On two separate trips along the road I have located what sounds
like a common yellowthroat. Unfortunately the thick area in which it
is located is off the road, so I can't inspect it closely and pishing
has not brought the bird out into the open. I'm a little dubious
because the area is quite dry, unless there is a seep back in the
brush at that spot.
