Josh, thanks for answering my question.  The reason I thought that the turtle
had dug the hole is that, not only was it under her back legs, but by the time
I made my way back by the same spot (30 - 45 minutes later) the hole had been
filled up again.  Glad to know I didn't interrupt anything important - as I
said, it seemed like an awful weird place to be laying eggs to me!
