Cooper's Hawk fledglings

Esther and I saw four fledgling Cooper's Hawks this morning in north
Asheville. They were perched high in a White Pine in front of 52 Sunset
Parkway, off Charlotte Street.

We saw them by standing near the base of the tree and looking almost
straight up. The nest tree is shaped a bit like a tuning fork and stands
between the sidewalk and the street.

This is the third straight year that we have observed nesting Cooper's
Hawks in this general area. If these fledglings behave like the ones in
previous years, they'll soon be flapping and flopping quite visibly along
Sunset Parkway.
