Thanks for your hospitality

Dear Carolinabird folks,
Thanks to all the wonderful folks who responded to a
previous request for birding suggestions for the
Ravenel, SC area(Charleston). I received nearly 35
replies.
Last weekend, before the big snowstorm, my husband,
step-son, and I visited the area. We went to Edisto
Beach, Caw Caw (Saturday morning birdwalk with "Brad"
who was both an excellant leader and fantastic with
children), and Bear Island. There were friendly SC
birders at several stops!
We saw more than 80 species during our trip. My
husband and stepson got their FIRST look at tundra
swans, woodstorks, american bittern, black bellied
plover, and much more. I picked up only one "lifer", a
eurasian collared dove. But to be treated to a three
day weekend in South Carolina surrounded by your
wonderful winter birds was fantastic. I particularly
enjoyed the yard birds of our relatives because of the
solitary vireo (or is it blue-headed now?), flock of
yellow-rumps, bluebirds, and hermit thrush that
greeted us each day. Such hospitality!
