Barreds/CHBC Sat.trip

...speaking of Barreds:

Some folks are reporting to me difficulty in finding the UNC
Barred Owls though I’m consistently seeing one or both sleeping in
the holly trees (northwest side of quad) most mornings; they do
however camouflage well.
Songbirds or hawks often chase them from these roosts later in day
so harder to say where they may be by afternoon.
Female has not gone to nest yet.

Doug Shadwick asked me to fill in for him for tomorrow’s Chapel
Hill Bird Club field trip, so letting folks know I plan to go to the Horace
Williams tract, near center of Chapel Hill (since I was
planning to go there Sun. on my own anyway). Just letting people
know in advance so anyone particularly wanting to see ducks,
can choose to go ELSEwhere (such as New Hope Audubon’s Raleigh
trip) -- won’t likely be any at the tract... or will EVERYONE be
at the Coast, anyway!

p.s. - In the interest of optimism (and certifiable insanity)
I’ll go out on a limb and predict Ivorybills are found on
        or around Feb. 5. ;-)
