migrants continue

I was lucky enough to encounter two really fun migrants this afternoon. On
an afternoon walk with my favorite four-legged birding companion through the
creekbottom, I heard a Blackburnian Warbler singing from a spot in an older
regenerating clearcut. When we returned from our walk, there was a lovely
male Indigo Bunting on one of the feeders.

I am still waiting on the Summer Tanagers and the Prothonotary Warblers and
the Eastern Kingbirds. All are now one to two days behind previous early
arrival dates in my personal records, though the Blackburnian seems terribly
early. I've had them as late as May 13 and am more accustomed to seeing
them in early May. But the date isn't out of range for SC statewide records
for Blackburnian Warblers, so I guess it is just the luck of the draw (or
maybe the timimg of the walk).
