Cliff Swallows nesting in the New Bern, NC area?

On 25 April, I saw up to 8 Cliff Swallows gathering
mud from a parking area near the Bridge Pointe Hotel
(formerly Ramada) across the Trent River from New Bern.

The birds would gather big mouthfuls and then head toward
one of the sections of the high-rise bridge that crosses
the Neuse River. Quite obviously nesting.

The mud they were gathering was clayey (had probably
been trucked in to make the parking area). Wonder if
this species is limited to any extent by the types of mud
that are available?

The next day, 26 April, I saw a few Cliff Swallows a few
miles away at the mouth of Brices Creek (Merchants Store).
These birds were flying to and from the bridge that crosses
Brices Creek.
