For those interested, the Spring Migration Count and International
Migratory Bird Day walk will be at Tibwin Plantation on the Francis
Marion National Forest beginning at 7am in the parking lot at South
Tibwin. We generally tally between 75-100 species in a few hours. The
area is very diverse, with most lowcountry habitats represented on the
1200 acres; from longleaf pine uplands to the spartina marsh.
There are no facilities, and you should bring appropriate footwear,
insect repellent, food and beverage. We usually finish with South
Tibwin around noon, then take a break in McClellanville or North Tibwin,
and then for those that wish to continue we finish at North Tibwin.
The parking lot at South Tibwin is located on Hwy. 17 North, 2 miles
south of McClellanville on the east side of the Hwy.
