Hi Carolinabirders,
I had hoped that I would be doing some headboat birding today but all
offshore trips from Murrells Inlet were cancelled because of high winds
and seas. So Paul Rogers and I decided to go to Myrtle Beach S.P in
Horry County. We birded from 6:45 to 11:30AM. Birding was poor with only
the most common breeders singing, but did get good looks at the eagle
and Wood Thrush. Only 21 species as we covered the sculptured oak trail
and the pond loop and nature center area. The day was sunny, cooold
(50's) and very windy.
Brown Pelican
Bald Eagle-perched in a tall pine at the south edge of the park. It
might even have been off the park property.
Mourning Dove
Red-bellied Woodpecker
Great Crested Flycatcher
Barn Swallow
Blue Jay
American Crow
Carolina Chickadee
White-breasted Nuthatch
Carolina Wren
Wood Thrush
N. Mockingbird
Brown Thrasher
Summer Tanager
N. Cardinal
Boat-tailed Grackle
Common Grackle
Brown-headed Cowbird
House Finch
Good company,
Jack
