Has anyone been to Cape Hatteras Point the last couple of days??
There continues to be very good potential for pelagic birds along the
North Carolina coast for a few days.
A high pressure to the north and a low pressure over Jamaica continues
to create a strong E to NE wind flow over the Atlantic south of the
Carolinas. This is a perfect setup for pushing northward migrating
pelagic birds further to the west than normal.
A similar weather situation in 1970 resulted in thousands of
storm-petrels, shearwaters, and jaegers passing by just off the beaches
of Cape Hatteras.
