Fw: New Birder

Does anyone else out there have experience with migrant woodcocks in an
urban setting?

Subject: New Birder

I have just starting at bird watching over the last 2 years i have learned
so much. I have bought guides and learned to idenify birds by sound as well
as looks but this is not why i am writing you I have a question. I recently
moved to Cayce and put out my feeders and proceeded to watch everyday i was
amazed at the diffrent birds i was seeing just moving to a diffrent part of
town but the other day in my backyard i saw an american woodcock i thought i
was crazy i thought this was a backwoods bird. the reason i knew what it was
was i saw one in the deep woods of the great smoky mountain national park
while on a hike. so my question is is it common to see an american woodcock
in the middle of a neighborhood i have seen it three times and will it stay
or do they migrate? any info you could give me would be wonderful. thanks
for your time
