The following are highlights of the 3 hour birdwalk at Magnolia Plantation
at 3550 Ashley River Road ( highway 61 ) north west of Charleston, SC led by
Perry Nugent at 8:30. A fee is charged.
February 9, 2003
70 species were seen and/or heard on a cool but nice day. The most
interesting were; 1 Anhinga, 9 Wood Ducks, 50 Blue-winged Teal, 40
Green-winged Teal, 8 Northern Shovelers, 15 Gadwall, 6 American Wigeon, 4
Hooded Mergansers, 2 Ruddy Ducks, 2 adult Bald Eagles, 1 Clapper Rail, 12
Virginia Rails, 15 Soras, 2 Pileated Woodpeckers, 2 House Wrens, 7 Marsh
Wrens, 1 Hermit Thrush, 2 Towhees, and 1 male Northern Oriole.
