April Meeting
Join us Tuesday, April 8, to hear veterinarian William
MacKenzie explore the relationship between diseases and birds. His talk
is entitled "Human Diseases and the Wild Bird Connection." The meeting
will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the A-level conference room of the North
Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences at 11 West Jones Street in Raleigh.

Saturday, April 5: Bagels and Birdwalk on the Buckeye. We meet on the
first Saturday of each month at 8:30 a.m. at the Greenway parking area
on Crabtree Boulevard, between Capital Boulevard and Raleigh Boulevard,
(832-4128).

Saturday, April 5: Wake Audubon will participate in Trees Across
Raleigh.
Join us at Spring Forest Road Park, (4203 Spring Forest Road) or Lions
Park, (516 Dennis Avenue) from 9:00 a.m. until noon. Contact Gwinn Moss

Saturday, April 12: Anderson Point Wildflowers of the Meadow. 9:00-10:30
a.m. Learn to identify wildflowers in bloom as we wander the meadow at
Anderson Point. This program is appropriate for ages six to adult,
(881-2601).

Saturday, April 19: Anderson Point Avian Adventures. Meet at 8:30 a.m.
in the parking lot at Anderson Point Park on the third Saturday of each
month. Highway 64 E from the Beltline two miles. Turn right on Rogers
Lane; the parking lot is at the end of the street, (881-2601).

Saturday, April 19 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Hardees at Western
Boulevard and Hillsborough Streets. Wake Audubon welcomes the Purple
Martins back to Raleigh! Join Tim Francis and others to learn about the
interesting life history of these birds.

Wake Audubon Birdathon/Wildathon April 20 - May 19
Spring has arrived, so now is the time to start planning where your team
will go to count birds, wildflowers, butterflies, reptiles, amphibians,
and/or insects for Wake Audubon's annual fundraiser. Choose any date
between April 20-May 19 that is good for you and/or your team, then
start counting, for up to a 24-hour period! You may travel to the coast,
mountains, or stay in the Piedmont to count. Money raised will benefit
Audubon North Carolina Coastal Island Sanctuaries and local Wake Audubon

Saturday, April 26: Howell Woods Field Trip. Journey to Johnston County
for International Migratory Bird Day bird banding demonstration and
birding with the Howell Woods Nature Center staff, (571-0388).
