There is are four accepted records (accepted by the SC Bird Records Committee)
for Northern Goshawk. Because of the lack of a photograph, sound recording or
specimen, the species is listed as Provisional I on the state list. (The state
list is available at http://www.carolinabirdclub.org. Follow the links for the
Records Committees.) The last report of Northern Goshawk was a well-written,
detailed report from Robert Merrick and Rick Phillips, two experienced
hawkwatchers, from the Caesar's Head hawkwatch in October 1995.
Northern Goshawk is a species reported almost annually in the state but rarely
documented by the reporters. It is a "full review" species, meaning that any
observations of the species should be documented and reported to the Records
Committee.
Watch _The Chat_ for annual reports of the activities of the Records Committees
of NC and SC.
