In Granville Co.--Near Stem; Sunday proved too windy too early for sound
recording. Was trying to relocate a Red-shouldered Hawk nest to run stereo
tape on. Watched a pair of Gnatcatchers, building a nest--lots of
wing-flitting and tail-shaking by one to mold the materials to the right
shaped cup. Saw a Great Horned Owl leaving from the vicinity of a large
platform in the top of a large pine.. crows, many mobbing, may have made
them skittish. Heard plenty Parulas while paddling a piece of the Flat
River. Also heard a Canada GOOSE.
