I led a birdwalk at Riverbend Park (northern Catawba Co.) this morning. We had 44 species. Here are the highlights.
Double-crested Cormorants-- Had great looks at thier crests
Osprey
Sharp-shinned Hawk-- Trying to take a Morning Dove at the feeder
Broad-winged Hawk-- A pair building a nest near the entrance to the Park
Barred Owl
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher
White-eyed Vireo
Blue-headed Vireo
Northern Parula
Black-throated Green Warbler-- Several
Common Yellowthroat
PURPLE FINCH-- Five females in a dogwood tree; first I've seen this year
