C-birders
THe HCBC had a walk around Westfeldt Park near the Asheville Airport,
Asheville, NC yesterday, April 18. While we had a rather soggy start, the
birding was not bad.
Highlights are as follows:
Northern Harrier 1 female
Lesser Yellowlegs 1
Solitary Sandpiper 6
Tree Swallow 40+ all feverishly heading north
Wood Thrush 1 heard
Red-eyed Vireo 1
Rose-breasted Grosbeak 1 male
Rusty Blackbird 5
Other good birds in the area included:
Yellow-throated Vireo (1) and Sora (1) at Fletcher Park, Fletcher, NC
Forster's Tern (7) at Lake Julian, south Asheville, NC
The next HCBC walk will be on 5 May at Fletcher Park at 9 AM
Cheers!
Simon
