Another magazine photo ID snafu

OK -- The Texas ad in Audubon magazine doesn't quit hit home. But, the
Wildlife in North Carolina magazine sure does.

So, how many of you have checked out the bird photos in the current June
2003 issue? Yes, the birds in the photos do seem to be from NC. The
problem is the magazine's ID. I'll not go into details, but the photo
identifications on page 4, and especially on page 36, are embarassments
to all involved and are not the Piping Plovers and DC Cormorant, as
claimed. And to think that WRC editors have often come to me (4 floors
above them) to ID some photos in the past. Sure would have been nice to
ask me, Mark Johns (WRC), etc. for help.

But -- I'll give WRC credit -- they never seem to make a mistake with
IDs of game species, such as Wild Turkey, Mourning Dove, Mallard, etc.
