The following are highlights of the 3 hour birdwalks at Charleston County's
Caw Caw Park on US highway 17 south in Ravenel, SC led by Perry Nugent at
8:30 am. A small fee is charged. For more information click on

June 28, 2003
59 species were seen and/or heard. The most interesting were; 20 Anhingas,
2 young Black-crowned Night Herons, 1 adult Yellow-crowned Night Heron, 50
Wood Storks, 4 Mississippi Kites, 2 Swallow-tailed kites, 3 adult and 1 baby
Ospreys, 3 yellow-billed Cuckoos, 1 fledgling Barred Owl, 3 Acadian
Flycatchers, 1 Wood Thrush, 1 Yellow-Throated Warbler, 5 Prothonotary
Warblers, 4 Blue Grosbeaks, 1 Indigo Bunting, and 1 Painted Bunting.
July 2, 2003
56 species were seen and/or heard. The most interesting were; 1 least
Bittern, 1 adult and 2 first year Yellow-crowned Night Herons, 3 Mississippi
Kites, 2 adult and 2 fledgling Swallow-tailed Kites, 3 Yellow-billed
Cuckoos, 1 Loggerhead Shrike, 2 Yellow-throated Vireos, 8 Northern Parula
Warblers, 1 Prothonotary Warbler, 25 Common Yellowthroats, 2 Blue Grosbeaks,
and 6 Painted Buntings.
