Re: Barn Swallow Migration

On a related note, there were large numbers of Chimney Swifts around the
house and over the pond (Fairfield county) late last week and earlier this
week. They appeared late in the afternoon and seemed to be feeding before
moving on through in a SSE direction. They were also somewhat quiet for
Chimney Swifts. As of Tuesday, there were no swifts to be seen. Because
they were feeding, it was hard to count the number of birds, but I did
manage to count a flock of fifty who did not stop to feed but flew over the
pond without milling around, headed south.
