I had a chance to walk through Ft. Macon State Park this morning and
then drive out to Cedar Island. There was very little warbler or migrant
activity at Ft. Macon (2 Black-and-white Warblers, 1 Red-eyed Vireo).
However, on a large collection of dead swamp grass gathered by the recent
storms in the canal next to the Cedar Island causeway (it was a couple of
hundred yards long), there was much shorebird activity. To wit:
        1 Am. Golden Plover
        2 Black-bellied Plovers
        Numerous Semipalmated and Western Sandpipers
        Numerous Least Sandpipers
        2 White-rumped Sandpipers
        6 Pectoral Sandpipers
        Both Greater and Lesser Yellowlegs
        Several Ruddy-turnstones
        Several Short-billed Dowitchers.
An unusual location, but very good.
